May Day Swap- Part 2

Time keeps moving fast--wrap of the the past two weeks..

• the heat and humidity has arrived in South Carolina.  Uck. Double Uck.
• Little one graduates from pre-school and summer camp starts next week! They have a cute cap and gown to wear.
• I still can't believe my little one is going to elementary school in August..sigh
• The arduous and tedious task of having the house on the market is really starting to wear thin!
• I really need a summer reading list.  Okay, I've seen several but I want to read fun, fiction, mystery/thriller.  I'm also going to select a classic to read to little one.  I was thinking Alice in Wonderland.  Anyone know of one that is girl oriented with fairies?  Peter pan is out.
• Researching good quality vegetarian and wheat free blogs and books.  Do you have any to share? 

Ohhh...got some really FUN news to share very soon :) 

On to the May Day swap-- this is what I made for Linda.  She loves aqua and creams, with other neutrals.  I was definitely making her one of my hand sewn poseys.  This one was made from a variety of lace, doilies, vintage tatters, and a bit of a broken earring. 

The basket I hand made from a weathered drop cloth, and an aqua organza ribbon that I pulled off a really really Southern hat.  You know the one's from the 50's that were decked out.

Then I sent several altered items, a hanging one, a metal box, and a cardboard box.  Ribbons, tags, and buttons/bling.

Hope you have a great Memorial Day as we remember those who gave for our country. 
Off for a little R&R---cross them fingers the house will be sold then!

May Day Swap and Everyday ..

Hi --what's to say for my absence beyond some major happenings and life.. you know the good and the bad--seems like one door closes, another does open.   To much emotion to discuss but let's say I am taking it day by day. 

Been super busy getting the house on the market and then showings.  I think they are as just as much work as getting it ready. 

This year, since we are moving,  I decided all my flowers and herbs would go in pots--with all the rain (I really thought it was never going to stop) these herbs just bloomed.  I love my chocolate mint--so fresh and clean--inexpensive and pretty centerpiece.  I just used one of my blue canning jars, tied some cream colored twine, and arranged the mint, purple basil, fancy parsley.

That sweet bunny I did when I took Devyn to paint her first pottery.  We had a goal of making 2 ornaments for our new home, then we spied these cuties to paint.

... but I managed to fit in some swap time with my friend Cerri at the Little Pink Studio who hosted a beautiful May Day Swap. 

My lovely swap partner was Linda at FancyLinda.  Oh and you must visit her pretty Shop! 

I was super spoiled...I just adore it all and it really got my creative juices going.  I have to say I've been in a bit of a rut and the swap helped me get off my you know what.

Get ready for some beautiful goodies...

 

I KNOW...isn't is gorgeous!! but wait my absolute favorite are these beauties.  I am off to the Isle of Palms for a few days for Memorial Day !! whoop, whoop, and soooo glad to have something pretty to wear.

Easter Treats Swap

I hope your Easter was pleasant.  We had the most gorgeous weather combined with a nice simple dinner with my Mom and Dad topped off with homemade Blackberry pie with vanilla ice cream--YUMMO.. Absolute favorite--the berries were so sweet. 

I took Mom over to my favorite store here, The Fresh Market, which is a combo of local fresh fruits and veggies coupled with gourmet goods.  I really recommend them if you have one in your area.  Small store but everything is always fresh, and they have an old fashioned butcher meat area, then some prepared foods to take home.  Love that I can get just what I need especially with the meat choices.  On the the sweets!

 Cassandra hosted an Easter Treats Swap with old fashioned paper egg cartons as the container.  My partners were the sweet talented-- Holly and Julie Ann.  The boxes are adorable and oh, was I spoiled with sweet treats!! Thank you ladies --my little one and I enjoyed oohh and ahhhing over everything!

 I just had to share the handmade card--love this sweet girl.  Reminds me of mine.

From Julie Ann ( I absolutely adore this gorgeous antique wedding cap she parted with! I already hung it up on my inspiration board--it is so sweet.) 

And this is what I sent them.  I took a handmade crochet flower and sewed my fabric posey with it, then expanded it with lace, dried flowers, and vintage bobs and pearls.  I love how full and textural istbecame.  I handmade these sweet bags from vintage curtain fabric, dabber of paint, and ribbon with dried flowers and my favorite this spring, the vintage daisy.  The colors just speak to me this year, the blues, whites, and feminine laces.  LOVE! 

This is one of my favorite stamps-made each a pocket with a note inside.

Handmade Ornament Swap

Hello all, I know its been awhile.  Personal 'stuff' has swarmed over my life the past 3 weeks and have to tell you I'm a little worn out.  A week of vacation is coming up next week-a nice staycation.  Lots of fun things with little one including movies, hot cocoa with BIG marshmallows, sappy christmas songs, and lots of Christmas cookies. 

I did join Cassandra's Holiday Handmade Ornament swap.  We were assigned to make 3 ornaments for each of our 3 partners.  My sweet partners were Terri, Heather, and Cerri.  All such talented ladies and can't wait to show the beautiful ornaments!

I've been working on my illustrations again and decided to make one into an angel, then dressed her up in sparkly finery.  I thought she came out so sweet.  On the back is a glassine bag to place your wishes!

Love how the sweet romantic bird came out. 

Lastly, this started out something so different but I kept getting an artist block so it ended up with my favorite vintage music paper, glitter icing, and using the old fashioned technique but updated with pearl pins, vintage beads, and vintage glass.  Love the frou frou and different textures of each fabric.
